3/18/2015 A LESSON FOR TODAY

Did you know??  When you go out to eat and add a tip to the bill and pay by debit or credit card (checks if anyone still takes them), your waitress or waiter will not see the money for 2 to 3 weeks.  Years ago when I waited tables, we "cashed out" at the end of the shift.  Any tips on credit cards were exchanged with actual cash in the register.  Tips are a daily necessity for people who wait tables.  When they have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to get this money on a paycheck, it can really hurt them.  So my lesson learned today is this:  Make sure I have cash on me for a tip Before I go out to eat.  A waiter or waitress should not have to wait on their tip money because I couldn't stop by the bank and get some cash out.
